Last updated at 3/10/2026
The dataset Population Development provides structured key figures on the dynamics of the population at the level of municipalities and postal code areas. It includes the percentage change in population over the last ten years and the last five years, as well as the total migration balance per 1000 inhabitants. This allows for the comparison of long-term and medium-term trends in population development and the classification of immigration and emigration. The data is suitable for urban and regional planning, site analysis, market and risk assessment, as well as for benchmarking between municipalities and postal code areas. By combining rates of change and migration balance, the dataset enables the identification of growing, stable, or shrinking areas and provides a reliable basis for decisions in administration, business, and research.
