Median income

The dataset Median Income provides a comprehensive overview of the income situation of full-time employees subject to social insurance contributions and supplements this with information on the average household income per inhabitant. It contains the median income of all full-time employees subject to social insurance contributions in euros, as well as differentiated values by age groups from 25 to under 55 years and from 55 to under 65 years, by qualification with an academic degree and with a recognized professional qualification, and separately by gender for female and male employees. Additionally, the dataset includes the median income of full-time employed women in relation to the median income of full-time employed men as an indicator of gender-specific income differences. The median describes the middle value of the income distribution and is therefore less susceptible to outliers than the average, while the average household income per inhabitant provides a household-related perspective on the regional prosperity situation. The data are available in euros and are provided on two spatial levels, at the district level and by postal code areas. This enables the dataset to support reliable regional comparisons and small-scale analyses of wage and income structures as well as differences by age, qualification, and gender.
