Employment rate

Last updated at 3/10/2026

The dataset Employment Rate describes the labor force participation of the residential population based on employees subject to social insurance contributions. It includes the indicator of employees subject to social insurance contributions at the place of residence per 100 residents of working age in percent, as well as the corresponding rates separated by women and men, each per 100 women or men of working age in percent. Additionally, the dataset contains the ratio of 15 to under 20-year-olds to 60 to under 65-year-olds within the working-age population in percent, thus making the age structure visible. The analysis refers to the place of residence and not the place of work, which clearly assigns the results to the residential population. The data is available at a small-scale level for municipalities and postal codes and is suitable for regional comparisons, analysis of gender-specific differences, and assessing demographic effects on the employment rate. The rates are defined as the number per 100 persons and allow direct comparability between regions.
