The dataset "Economy and Occupational Sectors" describes the regional industry and sector structure of labor markets at the level of districts and postal code areas. It includes the shares of employees in finance, insurance, and business services as well as in real estate and housing within the tertiary sector, and the share of manufacturing within the secondary sector. Additionally, it depicts the shares of employees subject to social insurance contributions at the workplace in construction, craft businesses, IT and scientific service professions, creative industries, knowledge-intensive business services, and knowledge and research-intensive industries, each relative to all employees subject to social insurance contributions. Furthermore, the dataset shows the sectoral distribution of employees subject to social insurance contributions at the workplace across the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors, as well as the corresponding shares of all employed persons. Structural density indicators also provide the number of employees subject to social insurance contributions in the service sector and in industry per one hundred inhabitants of working age, expressed as a percentage. All values are standardized as percentage shares or ratios and predominantly refer to the workplace, making economic activity spatially clearly assignable.
